Black women are the ONLY women who can be overweight and still be sexy.
This ridiculousness needs to stop. Obesity is a serious problem in the American black community, there is no need to encourage it.
Obesity is a serious problem and I would rather have the healthiest Queen possible at a healthy weight. But you are outta your damn mind if you don’t find curvy sisters attractive. There’s nothing attractive about obesity.
For me your more of a medium slim type sis your cool an attractive man your size is good but u have some girl you can see every bone on them.
I know sis you got flesh on your bone sis I know u know the type of slim am talking in Jamaica we said mawga.
Over weight & obese are two different terms. Hell..two pounds over your suggested weight is over weight. Anyway, thick and beautiful black women keep killin the world with them curves. We love it!
I hate when our people keep lying to each other . yes its some pretty big females but that shit is not healthy when you are 40 , 50 and 60 years old . The food we eat now is not the same food our great grandparents ate . one last thing when you pull off all your clothes and see all the rolls from over eating and won’t stop don’t trick nobody else into your lifestyle .
As a so called overweight woman, I must say that I am relatively healthier than many, no drinking, drugs, or STDs. I work to slim down, but I’m still going to live my life with aplomb and love every curve. Health is subjective – A carrier of death could very well be 5’9 slim and curvaceous or a man could be in the gym daily and still be dealing with terminal illnesses. So stop being facetious acting like ‘health’ is the reason you look down on fat women. It’s simply not your preferred aesthetic and that’s okay.
I am fully self aware and just refuse to let someone’s notions dictate how I should feel or act regarding ME. At some point I was not in control, but that was to personal detriment. I’m not going to feel bad about myself or roll over and die as though life isn’t a journey. I will continue towards improving my mind and body and love me in all facets.
Health is subjective? That has to be the most ridiculous statement I’ve ever heard. Health is something that can be “measured”. Good health can be determined by one’s blood sugar levels, risk factor for diabetes, amount of vitamins and minerals in the body, muscle mass (LEAN muscle is very healthy which is why exercise is so important), lung capacity, brain function, etc. Did you know that being overweight and unhealthy has a negative effect on one’s cognitive ability? Maybe you should study biology and health so that you aren’t saying ridiculous things to defend your unhealthy state. I’m happy to hear that you work on slimming down, but to “love every curve”, meaning loving the unhealthy parts of your body is very bad for you. That’s like saying you love an illness.
People that don’t like unhealthy women or men are not being facetious, they’re being sensible…they’re being in tune with what is natural. It is unnatural to want or like an unhealthy mate. No one is fat shaming or any of that nonsense, it’s simply a matter of being intelligent. How many obese elderly people do you see? Very fee because people that are obese have a short life span. Why the hell would a person want a partner that’s gonna die way before them? How is that fair to children? Let’s grow up and stop being in our egos, defending our illnesses and our poor health just to avoid dealing with ourselves. We all have work to do, it’s ok, but accepting poor health is not good, at all.
I’m not here to argue with you or the internet today. If you read my other replies you would see that I’m not defending anything of that sort and pointing out that her weight is not necessarily indicative of poor health as far as disease goes. She may well be on the way, but lifestyle changes and preventative measures can change it. Everything we do begins with thought and some may not see what’s important about their food choices, I didn’t. At the same time these people could still be actively living. You have no idea what point anyone is in life. This woman, for instance – you only see a snapshot of her. You don’t know whether she’s happy at this weight or if she decided to become vegan. It’s not my place to judge, but if truly coming from a place of love you educate and encourage.
Also, there are people within your vicinity that would benefit from your concern. I hope you’re reaching out in such a manner as you’ve shown here.
The people who bring up skinny people who have health issues when discussing obesity/ overweight remind me of the “all lives matter” people.
Obesity is a MAJOR issue. 70% of North America is overweight or obese but people want to praise it for our Black women, keeping our Black women sick and unhealthy because people like big asses. Stupid ass fools. Anorexia isn’t near as prominent, so bringing that up is clearly a cop-out, and a shitty one at that. Grow up people. Get healthy and stop encouraging our women to remain unhealthy. If you do that, you CLEARLY don’t love Black women.
It is very much the same. Nobody said skinny people didn’t get sick or die.. so why bring that up when discussing this particular issue…? Obesity is a big problem and cause of death among blacks in America.
That’s very circular. Nobody said it isn’t a problem but Black women in particular seem to be singled out.
It is a problem for both that’s how que the wshh owner died out of nowhere from obesity.
I’m definitely not singling out Black women, I’m just not concerned with women of other races. I love Black women. I love Black People. I want to see Black People healthy and happy. I want to see us in the position we’re supposed to be in, as the people that set the standard, a high standard of excellence in righteousness. We have to take better care of ourselves.
This is normal in our community by today’s standards, but back in the day before the introduction of fast food as a way of life, this was considered overweight….
Nothing a little exercise and a healthy vegan diet can’t fix. Which are exactly the things that women of this size aren’t generally going to do. If it were, then they would’ve already been doing it & would’ve never gotten into that type of shape in the first place.
Its all good until the doctor says you’re suffering from diabetes or some other weight related ailment. We, yes WE, have to start eating better. Taking better care of ourselves.
She’s a beautiful woman no doubt, but, she’s killing herself.
Outside of what’s being said here must AA men prefer BBW I’m not a BBW nor am I into fat shaming but a few weeks ago my doctor spoke a word to me that had never been used to reference me… Obese….I was both stunned and confused… I came in BC I had been dieting and wanted to check my progress…
He said congratulations you are no longer obese but still overweight and recommended me losing an additional 25 to 30 lbs more….I was crushed cause up until that point I thought I looked pretty good… I’m 5′ 3″ 140 lbs soaking wet….I don’t wanna weigh 115 but I will say this since I started dropping weight I no longer take blood pressure meds and while there isn’t a cure for diabetes I’m on less meds for that as well so there are some benefits to losing weight that has nothing to do with superficial looks.
